A Virginia Wedding Venue Where You Can Stay the Night

Most Virginia wedding venues send everyone home when the band stops. At Northfield Estate you stay. Our weekend packages include nights in the manor house, so the couple and their closest people can arrive the day before, get ready down the hall, and wake up on the estate the morning after.

The whole upstairs floor of the manor is being finished as five bedrooms and five bathrooms, completed by January 2027 for the 2027 season. Because only one wedding is on the estate at a time, the house is yours for the nights you book, with no other events before or after.

02 A weekend at the estate

The Night Before, the Morning After

Friday. Arrive in the afternoon, settle into the house, and host your rehearsal on the grounds. Your planner and vendors can start setting up while you have dinner with family.

Saturday. Wake up at the venue. Hair and makeup happen in the bridal suite, the groom's party takes the cottage, and nobody is stuck in traffic on the way in.

Sunday. Coffee on the terrace with the people who stayed. With the Weekend package you check out at 9 am; with the Full Estate Buyout the estate is yours until 8 pm for a farewell brunch.

Where Wedding Guests Stay Near Northfield

Farmville is about 20 minutes from the estate and has the nearest hotels, restaurants, and a walkable downtown along the Appomattox River.

Other Farmville hotels. Several national chains sit along Route 15 and Route 460, convenient for a shuttle to the estate.
Vacation rentals. Farmhouses and lake homes in Cumberland, Buckingham, and Prince Edward counties work well for families.
Transportation. Required for events over 150 guests, and a good idea for any group staying in town.

Can we stay overnight at Northfield Estate?

Yes. Every weekend package includes at least one night in the estate house, so the couple and their closest family or wedding party can stay on the property.

When does the estate lodging open?

The upstairs of the manor is being finished now as five bedrooms and five bathrooms, completed by January 2027 for the 2027 season. Renderings are shown on this page; final finishes may change.

Can we add a night without booking a package?

Couples who book a single wedding day can ask to add nights as the date approaches, if the days before and after are still open. Because Fridays and Sundays book quickly, a weekend package is the only way to guarantee them.

Where should the rest of our guests stay?

Farmville is about 20 minutes from the estate and has the closest hotels, including Hotel Weyanoke downtown. Hotel room blocks for spring and fall weekends fill a year or more ahead, so reserve a block as soon as your date is set.

Do guests need transportation?

Events with more than 150 guests require hired transportation. For smaller weddings it is still a good idea for guests staying in Farmville, since the estate is on a quiet country road.
